Beauty: Lush "Shark Fin" Soap

I am an avid Shark Week fan, seeing as sharks are one of my absolute favorite animals. Because of this, Shark Week is a time that I look forward to every year! 

In honor of last month being that of Shark Week, I wanted to share with you this amazing soap I have been using from Lush. You may have seen adverts for Lush and their campaign to stop Shark finning. This is an awful thing in which sharks are either injured or killed in order to provide ingredients for shark fin soup. Last year Lush Cosmetics decided to sell a Shark fin soap, with 100% of the proceeds going to help prevent & ban shark finning in various countries. 

I was sold when I saw the adorable soap & fell in love once I knew that by purchasing it I was donating to a great cause! 

The soap itself not only looks adorable, but smells and works amazingly! Its scent is fresh, with a hint of lime. I must say that my favorite part is the bits of seaweed that sit on the bottom of the soap bar. It is also mixed with sea salts that subtly exfoliate the skin. I find this product lovely to use and a great change from using ordinary soap.

Life: Making Blueberry Jam!

Days like these are the ones that I will always cherish. A bit ago I had some time to spend some great quality time with my grandmother! She is one of the loveliest and most admirable people on the planet & spending time with her is always worth it! 

We decided to make blueberry jam with the fresh berries she had been picking from within her garden! YUM! 

It takes three simple ingredients:  blueberries, sugar, and surejell! 

The jam tasted so yummy I can hardly explain it! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, but because we decided to cook the blueberries (grandma's idea) the final product tasted more like a blueberry dessert rather than a raw blueberry. 

Blueberry Puree: (Made by putting the blueberries in the blender) 

We cooked the blueberries with the directions on the back of the Surejell box and voila...

Beauty: Marc Jacobs "Lolita" Eye Shadow Palette

This palette is a bit of a luxury, with a pretty price tag, but it is truly a gem! It has caused quite the excitement within the beauty community for a while now & rightfully so! 

The colors in the palette are all neutral and contain three matte colors (white, beige, and dark brown) and four shimmery colors ( ranging from coppery tones to bronze tones). The shadows are blend-able and build-able and all around gorgeous!

Life: Coffee Date

 

There are some days that are rare beauties. Moments in life that I sit back and appreciate the tiny moments. One of these days was a few weeks ago when I met my older sister Stephanie for coffee. We can always stay and chat for hours; the conversation filled with laughter & love ( it may sound cheesy, but it is so true). 

Our favorite coffee shop is Bean Rush in Crownsville, so to hear that they were opening up a new store even closer to my house, in the beautiful city of Annapolis, made me incredibly excited! The shop is on a quaint & quiet little street, sitting comfortably beside a few adorable vintage shops.

After chatting for a couple of hours and enjoying the most delicious coffee & sandwiches around, we stopped into the little store right beside Bean Rush called Twisted Sisters. It is a two story shop that essentially embodies most of the things I love. Artisans from all over the area contribute various pieces of jewelry, paintings, bags, furniture, home-ware and many other beautiful products. Everything is hand made and it seemed that almost everything in the store was just my style. I loved the nautical feel of many of the pieces & cannot wait to take some of my friends there! 

If you live in the area, be sure to check both Bean Rush & Twisted Sisters out, you will not be disappointed. 

I absolutely adore finding little local shops, it reminds me to find beauty in simplicity and appreciate my hometown to the fullest.
