Paint the town red & your walls white.

"White?" "Are you sure?" "Wouldn't a color be more fun?" "Think of the maintenance!"

Last week, I moved into a new home where I get a room and office space to myself. I've been dreaming of white walls, copper and gold accents, greenery & geometric patterns for months. In the process, I realized just how underrated white-colored walls are. With much skepticism from others, I must say, I am incredibly happy with my decision.

Here's why:

I chose a blue-toned white from Behr in the color "Maui Mist' because I knew I wanted a cool color instead of the original warm shade of tan. (and trust me, there are several "white" shades of paint to chose from.) With a day of painting help from a close friend, I was left with a new room! If you're thinking of painting your walls white, think about whether you want cool or warm toned, bright or muted and matte, glossy or semi-gloss. My color is matte, which allows for a bit more "wipeability" without any sheen.

White walls are a blank slate, or to be more cliche, a canvas to work with. (I know, I know, but it's true.) It allows for the focus to be on the decor and accent elements of the room. My sun-soaked room beams bright and uplifting throughout the day because of the reflective quality of a light, white paint.

Good news! I've been vlogging my move! Soon on this space and my YouTube channel you'll see moving vlogs, design inspiration and DIY projects among other things. Watch this space for exciting content for your design, decor or vlog-loving selves.

And finally, the reveal:

What are your favorite room colors?

Life: Pottery Painting

I find painting pottery very therapeutic, while I may not be the best painter, it is simply another outlet that allows me to be creative. The other day, my mom and I decided to venture down to Historic Downtown Annapolis, one of my absolute favorite places to spend time, to check out this pottery painting shop called Clay Bakers. It is also a perk that I only live a few minutes away from the beautiful city!

We traveled into the cute little shop that rests right in the middle of Main Street and searched for our perfect piece to paint. After at least ten minutes of debating, I finally decided that a medium size, basic, bowl was the piece for me (some would call that boring, I call it practical). I picked sea foam green and pale blue as my two colors and went to work painting. I added a personal touch and free handed what I call my "abstract rose" design with three dimensional paint and then all that was left to do was wait a week to see the final result.

With only a few visible streaks, I was really happy with how it turned out & had a great time with my mom. It was all around a lovely experience because the shop plays enjoyable music and if you happen to go on a sunny day, they may even leave the doors open so you can enjoy the breeze as you paint!
