Divergent Make Up Collection!!

It is no secret that I love make up & recently it is no secret that I LOVE the Divergent book series. I am currently finishing the third and final book, but I am in love with the overall themes and of course, the incredible relationship that exists between the two main characters, Beatrice "Tris" and Tobais "Four". Their love is the non-conditional type, that acts as though the other does not become an adage to their life or their self, but actually becomes one with them. Tris often points out moments when she realizes they are the same, it is lovely and beautiful.

Any who, the point of this post is to talk about the special edition make up kit from Sephora. I was skeptical at first that it was going to be gimmicky, however after reading reviews I decided to try it out for myself, bought it online (after having to wait a week for it to come back in stock) and two days later I had a lovely large package on my doorstep!!

The kit includes:

  • 3 Themed eye shadow palettes (Dauntless, Abnegation, and Erudite)
  • 1 face palette (2 blushes, 1 bronzer, 1 highlighter)
  • 4 Lip glosses
  • 1 Double sided make up brush (Blush/Powder brush & Blending brush)
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this kit. The eye shadows are pigmented, versatile, blendable, and come in incredibly wearable shades. There are only 2-3 shades that I don't see my self using often or even on a day to day basis, they are a sparkly green, mossy green, and a scarlet blue color.

The other shadows range from stark white to a incredibly black color called "Dauntless Ink". I love all of the different names, however the eye shadow palettes themselves, though named after 3 of the factions are not designed specifically for those factions. For instance in the dauntless palette there is "Abnegation Stone". This is a minor detail, but I would have preferred each palette to be specifically for the faction it was named for.

"Erudite Eye Palette"
"Dauntless Eye Palette"
"Abnegation Eye Palette"

The lipglosses are a medium pigment, not completely sheer but not opaque either. They are smooth, non-sticky and leave a lovely sheen on your lips. I also enjoy all of the colors and will wear every single one of them. I think it was very smart of them to stick with neutral tones for the majority of this collection, especially since most of the factions would probably wear those type of colors anyway.

Left to Right: "Natural Virtue, Temptations Choice, Supreme Ritual, Fear Not"
The blushes are gorgeous as well, one is a deep coral and the other is my favorite, a dusty rose color. The highlighter is gorgeous and reminds me of the NYX one that I currently use, but the bronzer is the best part. It is a gorgeous warm toned color with a yellowish tint that gives it a natural sunny look when applied to the skin, I'm in love!

This is limited edition, so head over to Sephora and see if you can get your hands on it while they last or get your name on the email list so you can snatch it up right away if your interested.

P.S - I plan on having tutorials for the different factions coming up really soon, stay posted on this blog and my YouTube to see my first look inspired by the Dauntless faction! :)

Friday Finds: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush

Welcome to another Friday Finds Post!! (I am really excited about this one, seeing as I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of these products.)

For a bit of back story: I have been experimenting with highlighters, but I only have two cream ones within my collection. Highlighters are one the those make up products that I admire on others, but never seem to like on myself. However, I have been liking them more and more and have had my eye on the "creme de le creme" of highlighters in the beauty world, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in "Dim Light", but I didn't deem myself quite ready to spend such a pretty penny on something I was only beginning to dabble in.

Lo and behold, I was ecstatic when I discovered that they were planning to release blushes in the same "Ambient Lighting" collection. Blush is one of my favorite things to experiment with and next to eye shadow, is one of the largest accumulations within my make up collection.

Ok, now that you know that background, today's Feature Friday is the New Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in the shade "Dim Infusion".

*Pause for Oohs and Aahs*

I was like a kid in a candy store when I reached Sephora. Despite being so excited, the beautiful colors caused me to be equally indecisive. I loved many of the shades ranging from a hot pink "Radiant Magenta" and a plummy, berry color "Mood Exposure", but after standing for almost ten minutes just staring at the swatches on my hand, I finally made my decision.

It is a light pink shade, that looks like a beautiful, incredibly natural flush when applied to the skin. I found that it blends easily and is a really smooth formula overall. Not to mention the lovely golden packaging and the gorgeous marble effect of the blush itself.

"Dim Infusion"
Here is what it looks on me:

P.S  "Diffused Heat" (the bright peachy-pink option) is calling my name very soon!!

Friday Finds: Loreal Lash Out Butterfly Mascara

Guess what day it is?!

Friday... a perfect day for Friday Finds!

I wanted to add another series onto my blog and came up with Friday Finds, in which I will share a product, activity or idea that I love! I am not necessarily going to hold one every Friday, simply because I don't know if I will have "found" new product I feel the need to feature, but I have a couple in mind already so I am really excited to get this started.

The first ever product I want to feature is one that I am absolutely in love with. After using Benefit's "They're Real" Mascara, I thought finding a mascara I valued just as much was an impossible task, but yet, here I am announcing to you my new favorite mascara.

It is the Loreal butterfly effect mascara in the non- waterproof formula. I have the shade "Blackest Black". There are so many good things to say about this product that I hardly know where to begin.

(Wider edge is on the right hand side in the pictures)
The best place to start is the unique and incredible brush. It is in the shape of a butterfly wing, increasing from a small tip to a more spread out triangular shape. At first it can seem a bit intimidating, but once I figured out the best way to apply it, I haven't been able to use anything else.

I simply make sure the fanned out, wider edge is on the outer corner of my lashes and then apply from the root wiggling up to the tips of the lashes as you typically would. I apply a couple of coats (though it doesn't need it) because I like the dramatic lash look. I haven't had a single problem with clumping and find that this brush design works wonders.

I have finally found my dream mascara that adds volume, lengthens and fans out the outer edge of the lashes all in one! *swoon*

Since the bottom of the brush is a normal, slightly rounded shape, it is perfect for the bottom lashes. I apply the left over mascara onto them seeing as I do not like my bottom lashes to have to much product and look "doll-eyed" on an every day basis.

It separates each lash and gives an incredible long, full look to the lashes as a whole.

The packaging is not the greatest thing in the world in my opinion, seeing as it is a bit bulky and quite flashy being fully silver, but the product inside is so amazing, that I do not mind it at all.

If you are looking for a new mascara to try, I highly recommend this one!

Opposites Attract: Lips

Recently I have been loving lipsticks and lip pencils! I must admit, the darker colors have been my favorite for the winter season, but I love a nude, "my lips but better" color just as much! I though it would be fun and interesting to start a new series on this blog that I will do once a month! I call it "Opposites Attract" hence the title of this blog! haha Basically I want to take an aspect of beauty and talk about two of my favorite products or combinations on completely opposite ends of the spectrum.

For the first edition, I wanted to do lips! I have been so excited to share what I think is the perfect matte red lip combination and the perfect nude lip combination. It has been a long search, but I have finally fallen in love with the products that I am going to share with you today. (Though I am always experimenting and searching for new, exciting colors.) So whether you are a looking for a bold or natural lip look, you can find great options here.

First Up: The Perfect Nude
There were a couple different options and combinations that I really liked. I love the Urban Decay Lip Gloss in the shade "Naked" as well to layer over the top. This lip pencil also looks amazing underneath the Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in "Take Charge". I did a full review of that lipstick as well if you would like to check it out HERE. However, I think this super simple combo gives me the color I am happiest with. It truly matches the natural color of my lips but makes them seem much more glamorous.

First, I line my lips with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in "Naked" I love this product. It is so creamy and soft. The color is beautiful and because of the texture is is easy to apply. It shows up as a matte color and layers perfectly underneath a lip gloss or lipstick.

Then, I simply apply Revlon's Super Lustrous lip gloss in shade "215 Super Natural". The color is a beautiful natural pink that is incredibly pigmented, but the best part about this product is how moisturizing and creamy it is! About an hour after the first time I wore this, I couldn't believe how moisturized and soft my lips felt. I thought that I had applied one of my favorite chap sticks or lip balms, but soon remembered it was just this incredible gloss.

Together, the two of these products make an amazing combination. Here are the swatches on both my hand and lips!

Second Up: The Perfect Matte Red
I have bought countless red lipsticks expecting them to result in the color that these products give me, however I was always disappointed with a color that was too orange, too bright, too blue or just not what I was looking for. Never fear, because the perfect matte red color is finally here!

The first product I used is the NYX lip liner in "SPL817 Hot Red". It is a normal lip liner pencil, meaning it does not have the creamy consistency that the Urban Decay lip pencils have, but the color is gorgeous and once it is on your lips it doesn't budge.

Then I apply the most beautiful matte red lipstick ever! I discovered this color from two of my favorite beauty guru's Zoella and Tanya Burr, I will link their blogs below! It is the Rimmel Long Lasting Lipstick by Kate in the shade "01". It applies smooth and has incredible staying power.

The final step is to add the luxurious Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in the color "Icon". I desperately want the full size of this and I want to try the lipstick in this color as well, however is it a bit on the pricey side, so considering I bought it around Christmas time, it will have to wait. This product applies very wet, but quickly dries to a deep, matte, red color that is quite "vampy". Though it is expensive, this product is wonderful and I would definitely say it is worth the investment.

These three products make for the prettiest lip combination. Here are the swatches on both my hand and my lips below.

Love these blogs!
